HPS 36 (Sarah Jones, 1650): So cease thy mourning, thy weeping babe, that mourns in secret for manifestations from thy beloved, as thou hast had in days past; for I can testify unto thee by experioence, whosever thou art in that state, that he is bringing thee nerarer him, for that was but milk which he fed thee with whist thou was weak [1 Cor 3:2], but he will feed thee with the Word from whence that milk proceedeth [1 Pet 2:2].... IP2:89 (1660): [quotes John 3:8] Now he that is begotten and brought forth by a free breath of the Spirit, shall not the same Spirit guide and lead him out of the world to the Father, out of the love of it, out of the customs, fashion, worships, and whole course of it? They are not of the world saith Christ, even as I am not of the world , John 17:14. They walk not as men, or according to men, 1 Cor 3:3.

GFJN 8 ([1647]): At another time it was opened in me, ''that God who made the world did not dwell in temples made with hands.'' [Acts 17:24] This at the first seemed strange, because both priests and people used to call their temples or churches, dreadful places, holy ground [Exo 3:5], and the temples of God. But the Lord showed me clearly, that he did not dwell in these temples which men had commanded and set up, but in people's hearts. Both Stephen and the apostle Paul bore testimony, that he did not dwell in temples made with hands [Acts 7:48, Heb 9:24], not even in that which he had once commanded to be built, since he put an end to the typical dispensation; but that his people were his temple, and he dwelt in them [1 Cor 3:16].
RBA 125f, RBAF 91 (1678, V/VI.16): indeed the great cause of the apostasy hath been that man hath sought to fathom the things of God, in and by the natural and rational principle, and to build up a religion in it, neglecting and overlooking this principle and seed of God in the heart; so that herein, in the most universal and catholikc sense, hath antichrist in every man "set up himself, and sitteth in the temple of God, as God, and above every thing that is called God [2 Th 2:4]." For men being "the temple of the Holy Ghost" ... (1 Cor 3:16), when the rational principle sets up itself there, above the seed of God, to reign and rule as a prince in spiritual things, while the holy seed is wounded and bruised, there is Antichrist in every man, or somewhat exalted above and against Christ.
(1 Cor 3:16f)
GF8:5 (1669): ...all are to mind their keeper, the power of God, which was before the devil, the man of sin [2 Th 2:3], was; by which power of God they have oil in their lamps [Mat 25:4], through which their lamps may be always burning in their temple [Lev 24:2], and such come to be the temple of God; for they that defile the temple, defile their souls and bodies [1 Cor 3:16f], they let in the defiler and destroyer, and so their lamps go out, and they go from God and his power, the keeper, and such God will destroy.
IP3:229 (1672): What doth he mean by the outward man? The sinful body, the body of flesh is within. The outward body, that is not hell; that is the temple of God, where the heart is sanctified; and the pure Word of life sanctifies throughout, even in soul, in body, in Spirit, those that are subject to it. "Know ye not that your bodies are temples of the living God?" Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? [1 Cor 1:20] Can they find out the mystery of life, tne mystery of God's kingdom in this age, any more than they could in former ages?), but become a babe, a fool, and so receive and bow to that which is own wisdom will call foolishness, and account weakness; but the other birth, which is begotten and born of God, will know, and daily experience, to be the wisdom and power of God unto salvation [1 Cor 1:24/Rom 1:16].

We said we were the Lord's fools [1 Cor 4:10], and the Lord's fools were right dear, and precious in his sight, and wo to them that do offend them. He said, they were the Lord's fools, and shewed us their deceitful gowns, and their shaven crowns, and said, they did wear it for God's sake, to be laughed at of the world. We said, they did not wear it for God's sake, unless they were moved of the holy Spirit of God to wear it. He said, it was no matter, they did wear it because of their superiors.
JWJM 112 (17–) : I have seen that in the midst of kindness and smooth conduct to speak close and home to them who entertain us, on points that relate to their outward interest, is hard labour; and sometimes when I have felt Truth lead toward it, I have found myself disqualified by a superficial friendship, and as the sense thereof has abased me and my cries have been to the Lord, so I have been humbled and made content to appear weak and as a fool for his sake [1 Cor 4:10], and thus a door hath been opened to enter upon it.

But that which he, and the rest of the apostles and saints of Christ, applied themselves to in case of persecution, was to suffer. 1 Cor 4:12. IP1:313f (1660): Amd the true trial of spirits [1 Jn 4:1] is not by an assent to doctrines (which the hypocrite may assent to on the one hand, and the true believer may startle at on the other hand); but by feeling of them in the inward virtue of the light, in the spirit, and in the power. This was the apostle's way of trial. 1 Cor 4:19f. "I will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power; for the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power." A man may speak high words concerning the kingdom, and get all the doctrines about it, and yet be a stranger to it, and quite ignorant of the power; and another may want divers doctrines concerning it (perhaps some of those men call fundamentals), and yet be a citizen of it, and in the power.

GF8:178 (1679): ...those that came to be christians, (called,) and had got the form of godliness, came to be a greater grief to the apostles than the world; for their work was to seek to destroy that which the apostles had begotten, and them that they had turned to Christ. And therefore well might the apostle exhort the saints "to turn away from such that had the form of godliness and denied the power [2 Tim 3:5];" and therefore he told the saints, "The kingdom of heaven stands not in words, but in power [1 Cor 4:20];" and therefore they were to know one another in the spirit and power; and that is the internal knowledge.
