34:1 Come near, ye nations, to hear; and hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all that is therein; the world, and all things that come forth of it [G: that proceedeth thereof] .

34:2 For the indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his fury [G: wrath] upon all their armies: he hath utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.

34:3 Their slain also shall be cast out, and their stink shall come up out of their carcases [G: bodies] , and the mountains shall be melted with their blood.

34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll [G: folden like a book] : and all their host shall fall down [G: hosts shall fall] , as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig [G: it falleth] from the fig tree.      qtext

34:5 For my sword shall be bathed [G: drunken] in heaven: behold, it shall come down upon Idumea [G: Edom] , and upon the people of my curse, to judgment.

34:6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness [G: fat], and with the blood of lambs and [G: the lambs and the] goats, with the fat of the kidneys of [G: goats and] rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah, and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea [G: Edom] .      qtext

34:7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks [G: heifers] with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked [G: drunken] with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness.

34:8 For it is the day of the LORD'S vengeance, and the year of recompences [G: recompence] for the controversy of Zion.      qtext

34:9 And the streams [G: rivers] thereof shall be turned into pitch, and the dust thereof into brimstone, and the land thereof shall become [G: be] burning pitch.

34:10 It shall not be quenched night nor day; the smoke thereof shall go up for ever [G: evermore: it shall be desolate] : from generation to generation \it shall lie waste [G omits] ; none shall pass through it for ever and ever.

34:11 But the cormorant and the bittern [G: pelican and the hedgehog] shall possess it; the owl also [G: and the great owl] and the raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion [G: vanity] , and the stones of emptiness.      qtext

34:12 They shall call [G omits] the nobles thereof [G: +shall call] to the kingdom, but none shall be there [G: and there shall be none] , and all her princes [G: the princes thereof] shall be nothing.

34:13 And [G: +it shall bring forth] thorns shall come up in her palaces [G: in thepalaces thereof] , nettles and brambles in the fortresses [G: thistles in the strong holds] thereof: and it shall be an habitation of dragons, and a court for owls [G: ostriches] .      qtext

34:14 The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island [G: There shall meet also Ziim and Iim], and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest [G: quiet dwelling].

34:15 There shall the great [G omits] owl make her nest, and lay, and hatch, and gather [G: +them] under her shadow: there shall the vultures also be gathered, every one with her mate.

35:1 The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose. [G 35:1 The desert and the wilderness shall rejoice: and the waste ground shall be glad and flourish as the rose.]      qtext

35:2 It shall blossom [G: flourish] abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing [G: shall greatly rejoice also and joy] : the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency [G: beauty] of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

35:3 Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm [G: comfort] the feeble knees.      qtext

35:4 Say to them that are of a fearful heart [G: fearful] , Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come [G: cometh] with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you. [L 35:4 Comfort one another, ye fainthearted; be strong, fear not; behold, our God renders judgement, and he will render it; he will come and save us.]

35:7 And the parched [G: dry] ground shall become [G: be as] a pool, and the thirsty land [G: as] springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each [G: they] lay, shall be grass with [G: a place for] reeds and rushes.      qtext

35:8 And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein. [G 35:8 And there shall be a path and a way, and the way shall be called holy: the polluted shall not passe by it: for he shall be with them, and walk in the way, and the fools shall not err.]      qtext

35:9 No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there: [G 35:9 There shall be no lion, nor noisome beasts shall ascend by it, neither shall they be found there, that the redeemed may walk.]

35:10 And the ransomed [G: Therefore the redeemed] of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs [G: praise;] and everlasting joy [G +shall be] upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing [G: mourning] shall flee away.      qtext

36:1 Now it came to pass [G omits] in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, that Sennacherib [G: Saneherib] king of Assyria [G: Asshur] came up against all the defenced [G: strong] cities of Judah, and took them.      qtext

36:2 And the king of Assyria [G: Asshur] sent Rabshakeh from Lachish to Jerusalem unto king Hezekiah with a great army [G: host] . And he stood by the conduit of the upper pool in the highway [G: path] of the fuller's field.

36:3 Then came forth unto him Eliakim, Hilkiah's son, which was over the house, [G: the sonne of Hilkiah the steward of the house] and Shebna the scribe [G: chancellor] , and Joah, Asaph's son [G: the son of Asaph] , the recorder.

36:4 And Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to Hezekiah [G: Tell you Hezekiah, I pray you] , Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria [G: Asshur] , What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?

36:5 I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have [G: Surely I have eloquence, but] counsel and strength for [G: are for the] war: now on whom dost thou trust, that thou rebellest against me?

36:6 Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken [G: this broken staff of] reed, on Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all that trust in him.      qtext

36:7 But if thou say to me, We trust in the LORD our God: is it not he, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away [G: took down] , and said to Judah and to Jerusalem, Ye shall worship before this altar?

36:8 Now therefore give pledges, I pray thee, [G: hostages] to my master [G: lord] the king of Assyria [G: Asshur] , and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.

36:9 How then wilt thou turn away the face of one [G: For how canst thou despise any] captain of the least of my master's [G: lord's] servants, and put thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?

36:10 And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.

36:11 Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto Rabshakeh , Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the Syrian [G: Aramites'] language; for we understand it: and speak not to [G: talk not with] us in the Jews' language [G: tongue] in the ears [G: audience] of the people that are on the wall.

36:12 But Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit upon the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own piss with you?

36:13 Then [G: So] Rabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and said, Hear ye the words of the great king, the king of Assyria [G: Asshur]

36:14 Thus saith the king, Let not Hezekiah deceive you: for he shall not be able to deliver you.

36:15 Neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying, The LORD will surely deliver us: this city shall not be delivered [G: given over] into the hand of the king of Assyria [G: Asshur].

36:16 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria [G: Asshur] , Make =an agreement with me by a present, and [G: appointment with me, and] come out to me: and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern; [G: that every man may eat of his own vine, and every man of his own fig tree, and drink every man the water of his own well]      qtext

36:17 Until I come and take [G: bring] you away [G omits] to a land like your own land, [G: +even] a land of corn [G: wheat] and wine, a land of bread and vineyards.

37:1 And it came to pass [G omits] , when king Hezekiah heard it, that [G omits] he rent his clothes, and covered himself with [G: put on] sackcloth, and went [G: came] into the house of the LORD.

37:2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household [G: the steward of the house)] , and Shebna the scribe [G: chancellor] , and [G: with] the elders of the priests covered with [G: clothed in] sackcloth, unto Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz

37:3 And they said unto him, Thus saith Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble [G: tribulation], and of rebuke, and of blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth.

37:21 Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent unto Hezekiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Whereas [G: Because]thou hast prayed to me against [G: concerning] Sennacherib [G: Saneherib] king of Assyria [G: Asshur] :

37:22 This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning [G: against] him; The virgin, the daughter of Zion, hath despised thee, and laughed thee to scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.

37:23 Whom hast thou reproached [G: railed on] and blasphemed? and against whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on high even against the Holy One of Israel.

37:24 By thy servants hast thou reproached [G: railed on] the Lord, and hast [G omits] said, By the multitude of my chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall [G: high] cedars thereof, and the choice [G: fair] fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and [G: go up to the heights of his top and to] the forest of his Carmel [G: fruitful places] .      qtext

37:25 I have digged, and drunk water [G: the waters] ; and with the sole [G: plant] of my feet have I dried up [G omits] all the rivers of the besieged places [G: closed in] .

37:26 Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times, that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into ruinous heaps. [G 37:26 Hast thou not heard howe I haue of olde time made it, and haue formed it long ago? and should I now bring it, that it should be destroyed, and layde on ruinous heapes, as cities defensed?]      qtext

37:27 Therefore their inhabitants were of [G: Whose inhabitants have] small power, they were dismayed [G: and are afraid] and confounded: they were as [G: are like] the grass of the field, and as the [G: as the] green herb, as the [G: or] grass on the housetops, and as [G: or] corn blasted before it be grown up [G omits] .

37:28 But I know thy abode [G: dwelling] , and thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage [G: fury] against me.      qtext

37:29 Because thy rage [G: thou ragest] against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my [G: mine] hook in thy nose [G: nostrils] , and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn [G: bring] thee back by the way by which [G: again the same way] thou camest.

37:36 Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians [G: Asshur] a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.      qtext

37:37 So Sennacherib [G: Saneherib] king of Assyria [G: Asshur] departed, and went and returned, and dwelt at Nineveh.

37:38 And it came to pass, [G omits] as he was [G: +in the temple] worshipping in the house [G omits] of Nisroch his god, that [G omits] Adrammelech and Sharezer his sons smote [G: slew] him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Armenia [G: Ararat] : and Esarhaddon his son reigned in his stead.

38:1 In those days [G: About that time was;] was Hezekiah sick unto [G:+ the] death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set [G: Put] thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.

38:2 Then Hezekiah turned his face toward [G: to] the wall, and prayed unto the LORD,

38:3 And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.

38:9 The writing of Hezekiah king of Judah, when he had been sick, and was recovered of his sickness:

38:10 I said in the cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.

38:11 I said, I shall not see the LORD, even the LORD, in the land of the living: I shall behold [G: see] man no more with the inhabitants of the world.

38:12 Mine age [G: habitation] is departed, and is removed from me as a shepherd's tent: I have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off with pining sickness [G: from the height] : from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

38:13 I reckoned till [G: to the] morning, that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones [G: but he brake all my bones, like a lion] : from day even to night wilt thou make an end of me.

38:14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward [G: were lift up on high] : O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me [G: it hath oppressed me, comfort me] .      qtext

38:15 What shall I say? he hath both spoken unto me, and himself [G: for he hath said it to me, and he] hath done it: I shall go softly [G: walk weakly] all my years in the bitterness of my soul.

38:16 O Lord, by these things men live, and in all these things is the life of my spirit: so wilt thou recover me, and make me to live. [G 38:16 O Lord, to them that overlive them, and to all that are in them, the life of my spirit shall be known, that thou causedst me to sleep and hast given lifevto me.]

38:17 Behold, for peace [G: felicity] I had great bitterness [G: bitter grief] : but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it [G: it was thy pleasure to deliver my soul] from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.      qtext

38:18 For the grave cannot praise [G: confess] thee, death can not celebrate [G: praise] thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

38:19 The living, the living, he shall praise [G: confess] thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known [G: declare] thy truth.      qtext

38:20 The LORD was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments [G: song] all the days of our life in the house of the LORD.
